Sorrento life!!

Hello all!

Again we must apologise for our lack of posting! We have had good reason though, we've been very busy!! We now have a couple of jobs in Sorrento, Victoria. We work in a lovely place called Stringer's as waitresses and a bar called The Koonya as bar ladies! :) Its all good fun! Its like we've made a little life for ourselves in Sorrento! The people are so nice and we have heaps (aussie sic) of friends here! Here is a pic of Stringers!

Stringer's stores! A bottle-shop/supermarket/cafe!
This is our local beach the Sorrento Back Beach on a nice day!
It hammered down with rain about 2mins after this pic was taken!!

Then we have had a couple of trips to Chadstone! This is the biggest mega-mall around! We were told it was too big to be signposted anywhere!! :) We loved this designated 'man' area! See below!

Where hubbies and boyfs can be safely deposited when shopping!!
We are now living with a guy we work with - Anthony - in a house 15 mins walk from work!

We have marked our territory! Nice to have a sofa and TV to veg out in front of too!
There is only one real club in Sorrento, the infamous Conti Hotel! Here's a pic of us with a workmate and a random out there!

See...we do have a life out of work! :)

That's all for this one! Next.... Christmas....in summer! xxx

The last night we were a trio...sob!
Cheers from Canberra!

Our bed-chamber/boot/larder! Note the crisps!
Rest-stop water supply! No drinking here!!
Here's a wombat and her baby! Awwwww!

Here's a lovely picture of the sun setting over the sea at Wilson's Promontory, Victoria. Beautiful place!

So while we are now settled in Sorrento, we have no pics to upload at the moment! Sure we can get some up soon! Spent a lovely couple of days in Melbourne with Jessy and Arthur, some lovely Aussies Carla met on her last travels down under! The weathers been glorious and disgusting in a matter of hours but have had a great time, cakes at St Kilda's and lots of window shopping!  Headed back to Sorrento tomorrow so stay tuned and we'll get some pics of our new 'home' up!!
Love B & C xxx

To the left you can see the rain falling earlier today! The first official day of summer would you believe! Feels like we're back in Wales!!

To the right you can see two lovely cakes that caught our eye as we were browsing in St Kilda! Yum yum!

Sorrento!

Well, we had a bit of a change of plans (a heart attack more like) this week!
Having planned to go over to Tazzy for the weeks leading up to Christmas before the festivities with the lovely Bailey Family, we had a bit of a shock when we learned it was $450 each way on the ferry! Damn summer prices! We had a bit of a think about what we should do, but having been told there was work on the Mornington Peninsula we headed on down here, armed with our CVs looking for a bit of summer work!

The area is really gorgeous, we have bought a whopping 6-man tent and now have heaps of room to move! The car has become a rather extravagant larder! Decided to set-up camp in Sorrento, a seaside resort for Melbourne's elite holiday makers! The houses here are insane $9million beach houses all about! We're camped about 10m from the seafront, and paying no more than $10 a night for the priviliage! Hot showers/free laundry and plug points! Its heaven...apart from a few hairy stormy nights this week we're loving our new home!

Great news, we have managed to get jobs! We now are cafe-waitresses/bottle shop attendees in a posh little store with seaviews! Its very plush, a box of mince pies costs $25!!!! Everyone we work with are really friendly and lovely and we had a great first shift on Saturday! :) Plus minimum wage here is over $15 which means we're getting paid about 10 pounds an hour before tax! So we can start to save for our future adventures!

Thats all folks! Tried to upload pics but no joy....defs next time!
Ciao!

Wilson's Promontory and the Mornington Peninsula

Hey all!
Hope all is well!
We've had a lovely few days! Spent the weekend at Wilson's Promontory which is the most southerly point on mainland Australia! Saw Emus, another snake, wombat and so many gorgeous birds! Cheeky rosellas (red and blue and green parrots) that sat on the arms of our chairs waiting for crumbs!! We climbed Mount Oberon which had amazing views of the whole peninsula from the top. Took photos but alas again we can't upload them in the time we have on the PC! We promise we will put some up soon!!

We had planned to pop over to Tazmania before christmas for a few weeks but the ferry is super expensive $450 until mid-Jan so our plans are on hold until then. We have travelled to the Mornington Peninsula and are sat in Mornington Library debating about looking for jobs/carrying on travelling for a bit longer! We'll keep you updated on this!

Carla is froffing at the bit about the upcoming ashes! Looks like we'll give the aussies a good thrashing! :P (Sorry Arthur and Jessy!!!)

Bye for now!
Love,
B and C

and then there were two....

Hey all!

You may have noticed on facebook that Andrew is currently on a plane on his way back home. Well, what can we say! We're really sad that he decided to leave us! Don't overly understand the reasoning but we had a great send off for him in Canberra and hope he gets home safely! So...ignore the blog title for now on its just bexANDcarla...!

Don't worry about the two of us, we're having a really great time! Will upload pics soon so you all can see the car that we call home (and Brucie!)

Bye for now!

Sydney and beyond...

Where do we start....its been so hectic lately! Sorry for the delay in this post coming out to you! We've been truely out in the middle of no-where....I guess you could call it the OUTBACK?!

Ok...So...Sydney catch up:
Sunday: The Red bull flugtag! This was amazing, such cool designs and some truely spectacular plummets! Bex and Carla got mega burnt which after a chilly few days wasn't a suprise!!
Monday: Took our little car to get registered in Bondi...a few mishaps but got there in the end! Had a lovely hour on the beach which was beautiful before the storm clouds rolled on in!
Tuesday: Caught the Manly Ferry over to the North Beaches and visted Manly beach! So much nicer than Bondi, much more chilled, WARM and we got our Macca's (Mc Donalds) 50cents ice cream! Yummm!
Wednesday: We escaped the hustle and bustle of Sydney! Went to Ikea and kitted out Brucie (the car) and headed off to the Southern East Beaches! Stayed in Coledale Beach, which was sooo pretty! Literally set up camp on the beach and had lush forested cliffs behind us! (Note if visiting, don't make our mistake and try to go to the (only) pub at 8.30pm....as it shuts much earlier!!!)
Thursday-Sunday: Kangaroo Valley! A place that really does live up to its name! This was a truely wild experience for us all! Were greeted by kangaroos, wombats and huntsman spiders(yuck) on arrival! Carla nearly christened a venomous red-bellied black snake with a bath of tuna juice on Friday morning!)
Spent our time hiking in  38C heat (silly but good excercise) saw a huge metre long lizard in the bush, and saw some breathtaking views especially of Fitzroy Falls and the general viewpoints around Morton National Park! Spent some time basking in the sun (que peeling) and in the seriously muddy dammed river!

Today we're in Nowra, trying to sort out our car warranty (yawn) and thenwe'll be headed to Canberra! Hopefully the rain will stop soon! (Can't complain its the first day for over a week!)

Pictures to follow!
Love to all!

A Quick Post from Sydney!

After days of rain and cold weather we have finally got some sun, which Andrew thinks is down to his determination to wear sunglasses this week. Despite the weather we have been to see all the tourist sites and had a great night out on Friday. Hostel is nice - room is fine, plenty of toast for breakfast and lots of people to get to know! We've been scouring the area for a campervan, but after being told we would be better off with a station wagon we are now the proud owners of a metallic aqua marine-ish Ford Falcon :) sorting out the registration transfer is next on the list which we're going to combine with a visit to Bondi Beach on Monday. Today we're off to see the Red Bull Flugtag (photos to follow) near the Botanic Gardens.

Thats all for now...name suggestions for our car would be appreciated  :)

Hong Kong Fuey....

After a brief delay in Heathrow we have finally landed in Hong Kong. So here's whats happened so far...

Got to Heathrow with plenty of time to spare. Check in was the fastest ever!! So with time to kill we headed to TGI's - cocktails and food to kick off our adventure. Spent an hour or two looking round the numerous shops, most of which we couldnt afford a single thing in. Flight was delayed (not sure why - malfunction with something or other) but once finally on flight was fine. Vegetarians beware, the food is not that great on Cathays Pacific, and we were all very disappointed at not receiving a toothbrush onboard or a sleeping mask for that matter. However we all managed to sleep for several hours and are now on the free internet at Hong Kong Airport... Heathrow should take note. Trying very hard to not fall asleep, very odd to have not seen any sign of daylight. Off to explore the airport - Andrew is eager to find the gaming floor.

Please dont be put off by this very boring post. Im sure Australian Mis-Adventures will prove to be a  much more interesting read!

Tara for now!

And so it begins...

With only a week to go till d-day we figured it was about time to set up a blog so here goes.

Packing has commenced, with Andrew lagging on all fronts.  But after visits from Carla yesterday and Bex today, the packing situation is much improved despite Andrew pulling multiple hissy fits.  The 'fits' included attempting to justify a sleeveless hoody ('it looks cool') and disregarding Carla's advice that "salopettes are not needed in Australia". Both items are safely hidden somewhere in his backpack....and will probably never come out!

Meanwhile, Bex and Carla are much more organised and have already been in deep discussions on the most important items to take. After considering the small issue of clothes the main discussion centres on 'how to look good'.  Thus a hairdryer is being flown half way around the world (to never be used...owing to lack of electricity in our soon to be campervan).

So with packing in process and the leaving date nearing our posts will soon be coming from Australia.

p.s Remember to keep in touch!
